Robin van Persie: 'We can catch Chelsea'

Robin van Perise insists that Manchester United can still win the Premier League, despite trailing Chelsea by 10 points.

Robin van Persie has insisted that Manchester United can still win the Premier League this season after holding leaders Chelsea to a dramatic 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The United hitman netted a stoppage-time equaliser moments after Branislav Ivanovic was sent off as the hosts salvaged a hard-fought point yesterday.

Louis van Gaal's side remain 10 points adrift of the high-flying Blues after nine games played, but Van Persie believes that it is far too early to rule out the Red Devils from bridging that gap.

"Of course we can," he told Sky Sports News. "There's still a long way. It's still early doors. I think it's nine or 10 games played. It's not even halfway, so yes."

United renew hostilities with local rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
