Mauricio Pochettino: 'One mistake cost us the game'

Mauricio Pochettino was left frustrated after his side's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, saying that 'one mistake cost them the game'.

Kyle Walker scored an own goal to give the Red Devils a first-half lead and ultimately all three points for Louis van Gaal's side.

However, the Tottenham Hotspur boss believes that his side dominated in large spells and deserved to get something out of the game.

BT Sport asked the Argentine after the match what his feelings were on the result, to which Pochettino replied: "Very frustrated. Very disappointed because we played much better [than Manchester United].

"With one mistake, we gave them the opportunity to score. We scored the [own] goal and it affected the team.

"Maybe it was difficult to keep the same level and play in the same way but after the second half, we dominated and Manchester United only shot one time on target but I think we deserve more. This is just football."

Walker's unfortunate blunder was the first time in Premier League history that the first goal of the season was an own goal.
