Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is to serve a one-match ban after admitting an FA charge.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been issued with a one-match touchline ban after being sent to the stands against West Ham United at the weekend.

The Portuguese coach was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association - his third charge of the season.

Referee Jonathan Moss ordered Mourinho to the stands after the 53-year-old kicked a water bottle in frustration when Paul Pogba was booked for diving during United's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

After admitting the charge, the former Chelsea boss was issued with an immediate suspension and fined £16,000 by the English governing body.

As a result, Mourinho will be absent from the touchline for tonight's clash against West Ham in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, but he will be allowed to speak to his players before the match, at half time and after the final whistle.
