Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has described Louis van Gaal as 'one of the best coaches that he has ever had'.

Enrique and Van Gaal went head-to-head on Saturday as Manchester United recorded a 3-1 victory over Barcelona in a pre-season friendly.

Enrique played under Van Gaal during the Dutchman's time in charge of the Catalan outfit, and he has paid tribute to the now United boss.

"I spent five minutes talking to Van Gaal and it was a pleasure. He's one of the best coaches I've ever had. I'm grateful [to have played under him]," Enrique told reporters.

Van Gaal, who at a recent press conference described Enrique as a player that "always gave 100%", had two separate spells in charge of Barca.
