Former Manchester United striker Joe Jordan backs Louis van Gaal's tactics

Former Manchester United striker Joe Jordan praises Louis van Gaal's tactical play following the team's 1-1 draw away against West Ham United.

Former Manchester United striker Joe Jordan has praised Louis van Gaal tactics following his side's 1-1 draw against West Ham United at Upton Park.

The Dutch coach appeared to revert to some industrious play in order to get his side back level when a goal down, with United's approach to using Marouane Fellaini attracting comments from Hammers boss Sam Allardyce after the game.

"The best coaches are those who can get the best out of what they have got, and I don't see anything wrong in Louis van Gaal using Fellaini's height as an asset to change the course of a game," said Jordan, according to The Mirror.

"English football, more than any other country in the world, comes in all shapes and sizes. There are more ways to win a football match here than anywhere else - and that includes playing off a 6ft 4in forward in the box.

"Some of the best tacticians are those who can identify ways to make a difference by using players off the bench to change nature of a game."

Van Gaal's United side currently occupy fourth spot in the Premier League table.
