David de Gea 'ready to return for Spain'

David de Gea assures Vicente del Bosque that he is ready to return to action for his country after the collapse of his move to Real Madrid.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has revealed that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has declared himself ready to play for his country again.

De Gea has not played a single minute of competitive football this season amid high-profile speculation of a move to Real Madrid.

Despite Del Bosque warning earlier this week that De Gea's place in Spain's Euro 2016 squad was at risk if he did not begin to play regular football again, the 24-year-old was on the bench for his country for the 2-0 qualifying win over Slovakia on Saturday.

His national team boss hinted that the goalkeeper could be in line for a recall to the Spanish starting lineup for the qualifier against Macedonia on Tuesday, after he assured Del Bosque that he is ready to return to action following the collapse of his move to La Liga.

Del Bosque said: "He is in condition to play. We have talked with him and he is fine. I do not know if he will play or not but he is OK and that is all I wanted to know.

"He is a mature guy and is ready to play without suffering any burden of what happened. I have talked to him. I did not want to give him any advice because many people have already done it.

"I just asked whether he was in condition to play and he told me yes. Nothing else. We have a big squad and we must rotate it. There are just a few hours to rest between the games and it is normal to make some changes."

It remains to be seen whether De Gea will be welcomed back into the fold at Old Trafford for the visit of Liverpool when the Premier League returns on Saturday.
