Owen Coyle: 'Underdog tag suits Wigan Athletic'

Owen Coyle says that "there's nothing" Wigan can't achieve ahead of the Community Shield against Manchester United.

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has said that there's "nothing we can't achieve" ahead of this afternoon's Community Shield.

Coyle takes his side to Wembley to face Manchester United in the annual showpiece between the FA Cup winners and Premier League champions.

"Sunday is an opportunity to win a trophy, it's as simple as that," Coyle told the Latics' website.

"We have the task of trying to do that against the champions of England and one of the biggest clubs in world football.

"So it's going to be a very tough game for us and we will be labelled as underdogs before the game but we have no doubt that if we perform to the best of our ability on the day then there's nothing we can't achieve."

Wigan won the Cup under Roberto Martinez, who has since left for the position that United boss David Moyes vacated at Everton.
