Michael Carrick has said that Wayne Rooney's 100th cap for England will be an "incredible achievement".
The Manchester United captain will make his 100th appearance for the national side when Roy Hodgson's men take on Slovenia at Wembley later this week.
His club teammate told The Mirror: "It's an incredible achievement. I don't think you can underestimate how hard it is to get that many games.
"We have been lucky in recent years. First we had Becks, then Ashley, Steven and Frank. For him to have so many and played for so long is no mean feat. Wayne fully deserves the praise he will get and hopefully there will be more to come.
"To play with him for so long at United, he is someone you appreciate an awful lot. Everything he brings to the team makes it easier for others around him to play."
Rooney made his international debut in a friendly against Australia in 2003.
