Harry Redknapp: 'English teams playing for prize money in Champions League'

Harry Redknapp says that the English clubs in this season's Champions League campaign look like they are playing for prize money as opposed to the trophy.

Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that the English teams in the Champions League are just playing for prize money.

Manchester City have already qualified for the last 16 in the competition, but the fates of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are yet to be secured.

Redknapp believes that even if all the English clubs make it through to the knockout stages, they have no chance of winning the trophy.

"Qualification is one thing but I feel English teams are playing for just prize money this year," Redknapp wrote in the London Evening Standard. "Who is going to stop Bayern Munich or Barcelona? They are a cut above anyone else. Bayern have looked different class this season.

"Barcelona's 6-1 win over Roma was an incredible result. Their forwards produce the kind of football the game is all about. I watched Crystal Palace versus Sunderland on Monday and it was enough to send me to sleep but then you watch Barcelona play and it restores your faith in the game."

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Zenit St Petersburg and City have all qualified before the final round of group matches.
