Yaya Toure will stay at Manchester City for "as long as possible"

Yaya Toure reiterates his long-term commitment to Manchester City by insisting that he wants to stay at the Premier League champions for "as long as possible".

Yaya Toure has insisted that he is committed to Manchester City for the long term following the reports that claimed he was unhappy at the Etihad Stadium.

The Ivorian's agent Dimitry Seluk had suggested that Toure, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, was looking to leave the English champions as he felt he had been "disrespected" by the club.

Toure also hinted himself that he would be open to a new challenge, before recently retracting those comments to pledge his future to the Citizens, and he has reiterated that stance by stressing that he wants to stay at City for "as long as possible".

"It was not a case of leaving the club. It was difficult because my situation was quite difficult," he told the club's official website.

"For me I was always quiet and my decision, if you want to say it like that, is that I will stay at Manchester City for as long as possible."

Toure has netted 42 times in 183 City appearances since joining from Barcelona for £24m in 2010, but was strongly linked with big-spending French outfit Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
