Phil Thompson: 'Manchester City should sell Yaya Toure'

Phil Thompson says that Manchester City should sell Yaya Toure at the end of the season.

Phil Thompson has said that Manchester City should sell Yaya Toure and Stevan Jovetic so that they can rebuild their squad this summer.

Toure was named City's Player of the Year last season, but has failed to reach the same heights this year and Saturday's Premier League results left City in fourth ahead of their match against Crystal Palace on Monday.

"They have to change something, there has to be a different way," former Liverpool centre-back Thompson told Sky Sports News.

"Yaya Toure has been a fantastic player for the Premier League but I think with Man City too much goes through him, too much is reliant on him and he has not really done it this year.

"I think they do need to change and if they get decent money for Toure and Jovetic they should snap the hands off. They have to rebuild because they are all too old."

Inter Milan is believed to be the most likely destination for Toure next season.
