Man City 'still in race' to sign Alexis Sanchez

Udinese's president insists that a deal is "far" from done over Alexis Sanchez.

Man City are still in with a shot of signing Alexis Sanchez, according to The Mirror.

The highly-sought Chilean winger was expected to complete a £32 million transfer to Barcelona later this week but Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo has now said a deal is "far" from done.

“We are still far from reaching an agreement. Sanchez is still a Udinese player," he said. "Barcelona have made more than one offer. The real market value of Sanchez is a minimum €50 million (£44 million), but seeing as we are not Inter Milan or Real Madrid but a small club, in the end, we may have to settle for less.

"Let us just say that the price is €50 million negotiable. You can only hope that the right price comes along and the right price has yet to arrive. Barcelona’s offer is not the right price and everyone knows that - Barcelona and all the other big clubs.”

City reportedly held fresh talks with Udinese yesterday and are now preparing to outbid Barca for Sanchez, who is currently in South America preparing for the Copa America.
