Defender Maicon "can completely guarantee" that he will not depart Manchester City at the end of the season.

Brazilian full-back Maicon has insisted that he is not planning to leave Manchester City this summer.

Recent reports have linked the 31-year-old with a return to his homeland, with Atletico Mineiro in particular credited with an interest in his services.

However, the defender has revealed that he will still be at the Etihad Stadium next season.

"I can completely guarantee you that I'll not leave," Maicon told the Lancenet. "I'm calm and I don't care about what they wrote about me.

"My only objective is to help the team and don't have any more injuries, as my goal is to return to the national team."

Maicon has made just 11 Premier League appearances this season.
