Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure looking ahead to new season

Man City midfielder Yaya Toure is looking forward to the new season as he aims to make the fans "proud" following last term's "disappointing" campaign.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has said that it "feels great to be back" training with the team ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, but confirmed his intention to stay with the club at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

Toure admitted that last season was a "disappointing" one as City finished second in the league and failed to pick up a trophy, but he is keen to make amends this time around.

"I'm just really looking forward to next season and it feels great to be back. I'm going to work as hard as I can in pre-season and we're already looking forward to playing in front of our own fans again in six weeks or so," he told the club's official website.

"I'm not the biggest fan of pre-season if I'm honest, but we all know we have to prepare well and eat properly so we're good to go at the start of the season. As for predictions, I don't want to say we'll do this or that - just that we have our targets and we want to make the fans and this club proud. Last season was disappointing by our own standards because we know we could have done better.

"We are looking forward to welcoming some new players as well which will strengthen the team and together we want to achieve something really big this year. We are looking forward to bouncing back very strongly."

City begin their quest to regain the Premier League title away to West Bromwich Albion on August 10.
