Graeme Souness: 'Manchester City were frightened against Manchester United'

Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness believes that Manchester City are underperfoming and stumbled their way to their 1-0 victory in the Manchester derby.

Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness has criticised Manchester City for are underperfoming and believes that the English champions stumbled their way to their 1-0 victory against Manchester United on Sunday.

Sergio Aguero struck in the 63rd minute of the Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium to earn the Citizens a win and local bragging rights over their neighbours.

However, Souness remains unconvinced, telling Sky Sports News: "[Man City] are such a big team with such good players but getting beat is part of football and you lose the odd game even if you are the best around.

"[The best teams] want to be back the next day if they lose but City got a bad result in Russia, a bad result against West Ham and a bad result against Newcastle.

"You expected another gear to come along when they got the goal, but they got a bit frightened, subconsciously backed off a little bit and allowed United to get back into the game."

The result took City to third in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Chelsea.
