Outgoing Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini ignores Zenit St Petersburg talk

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini ignores reports that he could take over at Zenit St Petersburg next season once he has been replaced by Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has remained tight-lipped on rumours suggesting that he could move to Zenit St Petersburg this summer.

The Chilean is to be replaced by current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola come the end of the campaign, and reports today suggested that Zenit could be Pellegrini's next club.

The Russian club are currently managed by former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur head coach Andre Villas-Boas, but the Portuguese is leaving at the end of the season.

When asked about the speculation today, Pellegrini told reporters: "My future is the same answer. I am just thinking about the next game."

Pellegrini led City to League Cup success last weekend, but his side then lost 3-0 at Liverpool in an instant rematch of the final in midweek to leave themselves in the Premier League's top four on goal difference only.

Pellegrini refused to discuss the possibility of not finishing in the top four and when asked about the number of points needed to win the title he added: "Not more than 75."

City will be confident of getting back to winning ways this weekend as they host rockbottom Aston Villa at the Etihad.
