Manchester City player arrested after car crash

A Manchester City player has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a crash in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Michael Johnson, 24, was held by police after a collision involving his Mercedes CLS 350 and a parked BMW X5.

The crash is alleged to have taken place at 3.50am yesterday on Grangethorpe Road in Urmston, Greater Manchester.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At approximately 3.50am on May 31 2012, police were called to reports of a minor road traffic collision at Grangethorpe Road in Urmston.

"A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving."

Johnson is a product of City's youth academy and spent a portion of last season on loan at Leicester City.
