Fernandinho hails "amazing" Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho expresses his delight at helping his side to the Premier League title in his first season in English football.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has expressed his pride at having helped the team to the Premier League title in his debut season in English football.

The Brazilian midfielder joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk for £30m last summer and went on to play a key role in the club's title success, which was confirmed with a 2-0 win over West Ham United this afternoon.

The 29-year-old believes that the victory vindicates his decision to join City and insists that the team deserved to pip rivals Liverpool to the post.

"Today was amazing, by the fans, the club, the team - everyone was concentrated to get the result. In that moment you don't know exactly what you say because the emotion is so high. To win the Premier League is amazing, and in the first season it is doubly amazing," Fernandinho told reporters.

"I am so happy, I am so glad to help my team, and I am so proud to play for this team. I think I made the right decision to come to England and Man City. I always say in football and life you have to win the title, and Man City gave me the chance to win the title. I am so happy for that.

"The players deserved it. We worked very hard and today was the best way to win the title. In the game we played very good football and we deserved that."

City ended the season two points clear of Liverpool, who came from a goal down to beat nine-man Newcastle United on the final day.
