Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is adamant that the club have shed their 'typical City' tag.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak believes that the club have left behind the phrase "typical City" after winning the Premier League.

City won their first top-flight title in 44 years after a dramatic end to the season in Sunday's 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers.

The Citizens have spent much of their history in the shadow of rivals Manchester United and were frequently labelled as buckling under the pressure of success. However, Al-Mubarak insists that the club have now left that label behind.

"I don't think any league will be decided like that for many years to come," said Al-Mubarak.

"Maybe some people imagined it was 'typical City'. We are not typical City. We have destroyed that thought. This is not a team that is going to lie down. Now we want to forget about 'typical City'.

"This club wants to win more than anything and will fight for that until the last kick of the game."

Manager Roberto Mancini has said that he wants to improve the club over the summer and has been linked with Arsenal's Robin van Persie.
