Argentina's team doctor Donato Villani believes that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be sidelined for at least six weeks with his broken rib.

Argentina's team doctor Donato Villani has claimed that Sergio Aguero will miss six weeks of action due to the rib injury he sustained last week.

The Manchester City striker's blistering start to the season came to a shuddering halt when he was caught up in a car accident in Amsterdam, breaking a rib as the taxi he was in crashed into a post.

City have since suggested that Aguero would miss a maximum of four weeks, perhaps even returning in time for the clash with Stoke City immediately after the international break, but Villani believes that he will face a longer layoff.

"Aguero is in a very bad mood because he was very eager to come and play and this incident, which had nothing to do with him, leaves him out of the two games," Villani told Argentine TV channel TyC Sports.

"He will be off the pitch for six weeks. He can't move in his house, or get into or out of the car."

Aguero has scored seven goals in eight matches across all competitions this season, leaving him just one goal short of City's all-time goalscoring record.
