Dani Alves 'tired' of referee talk

Barcelona defender Dani Alves does not believe that the referee influenced their 2-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash.

Dani Alves has claimed that talk of referees favouring Barcelona is 'tiresome' following the Spanish club's 2-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash.

The Brazilian defender scored Barca's second in the latter stages on Tuesday, but there was criticism surrounding the first goal with City defender Martin Demichelis conceding a penalty for fouling Lionel Messi, when the initial contact appeared to take place outside the box.

"There are a lot of people who can talk about that. All we try to do is do our job, produce big performances, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose," he told Canal Plus.

"But people always talk about the referee when Barca win, it's their way of trying to take credit away from us."

The return leg at the Camp Nou will take place in three weeks' time.
