Malaga defender Antunes has admitted his disappointment after missing out on a place in Portugal's 23-man squad for the World Cup this summer.

The left-back was named in the initial party but was not part of Paulo Bento's confirmed list, which was submitted earlier today.

"I'm sad because my dream slipped through my grasp," he told A Bola.

"This is one of the saddest days of my life, but I can only congratulate all my colleagues who got the call and wish them a great World Cup!"

Antunes has been a key performer for Malaga this season.
