Mainz 05 and Werder Bremen play out a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga.

Werder Bremen responded in the second half to claim a point away to Mainz 05.

It was the perfect start for Mainz as they went ahead in seconds through top scorer Adam Szalai after he was set up by Andreas Ivanschitz.

Bremen started to take control of the game and both Mehmet Ekici and Nils Petersen came close to equalising.

Philipp Bargfrede shot over before Petersen headed wide and Bremen somehow went into the break behind.

After a spell of dominance at the start of the second half Bremen finally pulled level with 20 minutes to go through Aaron Hunt, who tapped in a Marko Arnautovic corner.

There were to be no more goals and the points were shared in Mainz.
