Report: Liverpool target Victor Valdes

A report claims that Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes this summer.

The experienced stopper is currently still at Barcelona, but is expected to officially depart the Camp Nou when his contract comes to an end later this month.

Monaco had been strongly linked with a move, but it is understood that the French side have pulled out of the race due to the uncertainty surrounding Valdes's knee injury, which he picked up in April.

As it stands, Valdes is due to miss at least the first two months of the 2014-15 campaign as he recovers from surgery, but according to Sport, that has not put off Liverpool.

A host of European clubs are believed to be monitoring proceedings.
