Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has joined Stoke City for £4m on a four-year contract.

The Scotland international had fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the £15m arrival of Joe Allen from Swansea City.

Potters boss Tony Pulis has been looking to add some creativity to his midfield, but failed in his bid to sign Tom Huddlestone on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Free agent Michael Owen and Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu could follow Adam to the Britannia Stadium before tonight's 11pm deadline.
