Sam Allardyce urges Alex Song West Ham United stay

Sam Allardyce advises Alex Song to stay at West Ham United rather than move to a bigger club.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has urged Barcelona loanee Alex Song to stay with the club as he is guaranteed regular first-team action.

The Cameroon midfielder left Arsenal for the Catalan giants in 2012, but failed to feature regularly for the Blaugrana.

However, with Liverpool rumoured to be making an approach for Song, Allardyce has warned the star that a move to a big team may not be the right one.

He is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "Clubs might have a bigger history and tradition than ours but it is not always the case that they will succeed against you.

"In the end Alex moved to Barcelona which he thought was one hell of a move for him at the time and unfortunately he did not play, or as much as he wanted to.

"So it is fine being at these clubs but it is not that good if you are not playing if you are a footballer contrary to what most people think."

West Ham travel to Hull City on Sunday afternoon, looking to close the gap on the European places.
