Liverpool cruise past AC Milan

Liverpool comfortably beat AC Milan 2-0 thanks to goals from Joe Allen and Suso, and will play Manchester United in the final of the International Champions Cup.

Joe Allen's first-half strike and a late goal from Suso were enough give Liverpool a third win on their tour of the US against AC Milan.

The Welshman made the breakthrough after striking the woodwork with his first attempt and, after Raheem Sterling brought a save out of Christian Abbiati, Allen was alert to turn the ball into the net.

Liverpool then earned a penalty when Adil Rami bundled Sterling over in the area. Rickie Lambert, who had a good record from the spot during his time at Southampton, hit a weak effort that Abbiati comfortably kept out.

Milan's poor first-half display prompted Filippo Inzaghi to introduce Mario Balotelli.

However, the Rossoneri failed to test Simon Mignolet until the 76th minute when Keisuke Honda set up M'Baye Niang, but the Belgian stopper was able to repel his effort.

Liverpool, who introduced eight substitutes midway through the second period, then made sure of victory when Suso's sweetly-struck shot found the bottom corner of the Milan net in the dying minutes.

Brendan Rodgers' men will play Manchester United in the final of the International Champions Cup on Monday after the Red Devils beat Real Madrid 3-1.
