Luis Suarez "scared" of missing World Cup through injury

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez admits that long-term injuries sustained by Rademel Falcao and Theo Walcott in recent weeks leave him feeling "scared".

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he is "scared" of picking up an injury that will cost him a place at the World Cup.

The Uruguayan, who has scored 23 Premier League goals for the Reds this season, is one of the world's most feared forwards at this moment in time.

Suarez concedes that long-term injuries sustained by fellow professionals leaves him feeling worried that he could suffer a similar problem, but insists that he is focused solely on helping Liverpool achieve success this season.

"The truth is that I am scared of what happened to [Radamel] Falcao and [Theo] Walcott," the 27-year-old told Sport 890 AM. "You live in the present and you always give your best for your club - you can't be thinking about that all the time.

"It is a unique opportunity and we all want to be there, but I prefer to focus my mind on the English league. The moment to think about the national team will arrive later."

Suarez has scored 39 times for his country in 71 appearances.
