Daniel Sturridge expects to be fit for Liverpool's Chelsea clash

Daniel Sturridge is hopeful that he will be fit to play in Liverpool's showdown against Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is hopeful that he will be fit for Sunday's crucial Premier League showdown against Chelsea.

The England international was rested last weekend after picking up a hamstring problem during the Reds' 3-2 victory over Manchester City on April 13.

In a question and answer session with children associated with the LFC Foundation, Sturridge was asked whether he would feature against his former club, to which the forward replied: "Hopefully this weekend I'll be back."

Liverpool, who will be without midfielder Jordan Henderson as he serves the second of his three-match ban, currently have a five-point lead over Chelsea in the Premier League table.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho suggested on Tuesday that he will play a weakened team at Anfield due to his team's Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid the following week.

Liverpool need seven points from their final three matches in order to lift the club's first league title since 1990.
