Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool want top-four finish'

Brendan Rodgers sets his sights on a top-four finish for Liverpool next season.

Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on a top-four finish this coming campaign after hailing the strength in depth of his Liverpool squad.

The Reds are currently in Australia as part of their pre-season preparations and have recorded back-to-back wins so far.

Speaking to the club's official website Down Under, the Northern Irishman outlined his goals for the new season and said that ending a four-year wait for a trophy was also high on his list of priorities.

Rodgers said: "In terms of priorities, it's about getting back into that top four again and we're very determined to look to get a trophy this year. Every player will contribute towards that.

"With so many games and competitions - and wanting to do well in those competitions - it's very, very important. People will see the players that have come in and their quality, but also very importantly, the ones we already have at the club.

"Once we get that combination together, we can go into each competition and put out a really strong team. There's no player comes to the club and is guaranteed to play every single game. We aim to do well in all the competitions and hopefully there's a squad being built to cope with them all."

The Reds begin the new season with a trip to Stoke City next month.
