Jurgen Klopp apologises to Tony Pulis for handshake snub

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp apologises to West Brom boss Tony Pulis for refusing to shake his hand following the 2-2 draw between the sides at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has apologised to West Bromwich Albion counterpart Tony Pulis for refusing to shake his hand following last weekend's meeting between the two sides.

Klopp was critical of the Baggies' style of play following the match at Anfield, which finished in a 2-2 draw courtesy of a 96th-minute deflected equaliser from Divock Origi.

Pulis has since delivered a tongue-in-cheek apology to Klopp, but the German explained that his post-match comments were made in the heat of the moment and insists that he does not have a problem with the Welshman.

"I can easily say sorry for everything I said during the game because I am very emotional, I think Tony Pulis is similar, and there were a few words. We were very close together," Klopp told reporters.

"For me it was not a big problem but it was very intense and after the game I wanted to go to my team. Really I forgot to shake hands. That's all.

"If we meet today, it would be no problem to say sorry and to shake hands, to have a talk about whatever. I have big respect for his work, no doubt about this. In that situation it was not easy to switch on the lamps and switch them off."

Liverpool, who currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
