German side Borussia Monchengladbach have donated 300 scarves to Liverpool to mark the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
The Merseyside outfit have asked clubs from around the world to donate a scarf, and the collection will form a giant '96' on the Anfield pitch at the ceremony on April 15.
However, when Monchengladbach asked their fans to hand in scarves at last weekend's 3-1 win at home to Hamburger SV, they were inundated with donations.
The Reds beat Gladbach 3-2 in the 1973 UEFA Cup Final and got their hands on the European Cup for the first time four years later with a 3-1 victory over the German side, and the relationship between the clubs has remained strong since.
