John Aldridge: 'Liverpool's focus is top four, not Premier League title'

John Aldridge believes that Liverpool should focus on securing Champions League football as opposed to fighting for the title.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes that the Reds should aim for Champions League football as opposed to pushing for the Premier League title.

The Merseyside outfit are currently second in the table, two points adrift of leaders Arsenal following a 4-0 win over Fulham at Anfield on Saturday.

"They moved back up to second and closed the gap on Arsenal, but the aim remains Champions League football." Aldridge wrote in the Liverpool Daily Post.

"People have started to talk about title challenges again, just a week after writing Liverpool off.

"Football is a fickle business, but (manager) Brendan Rodgers and the team just need to concentrate on staying in the top four."

The Reds will take on Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park after the international break.
