Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam is almost certain to miss the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage in last week's 3-2 loss to Queens Park Rangers.
Tests revealed that the 26-year-old had suffered lateral ligament damage, which would require a repair operation.
If the Scotland international does undergo the surgery, it will bring his first campaign with the club to an end.
Adam has made 35 appearances for Liverpool this season.
