Liverpool's Craig Bellamy is hoping for a win in this afternoon's Carling Cup final but doesn't want to play a part in a winning goal against boyhood club Cardiff City.

Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy has said that he doesn't want to play a part in a winning goal the Reds may score in this afternoon's Carling Cup final against Cardiff City.

Bellamy, 32, spent the 2010-11 season on loan at the Bluebirds - the club he watched as a boy and who are supported by his father.

The Welsh international hopes to help Liverpool claim their first trophy in six years but doesn't want to be the man to break Cardiff hearts.

"A big part of me hopes this [cup run] affects Cardiff in the right way and they are able to gain momentum in years to come from this experience," said Bellamy.

"But selfishly I hope it is a narrow win for us and I play no part in the winning goal.''

This afternoon's game kicks off at 4pm.
