Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he has "no idea" when striker Daniel Sturridge will be fit to return from his calf injury.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he has "no idea" when Daniel Sturridge will be fit to return from his latest injury.

Sturridge has been sidelined since November 19 with a calf injury and is not expected to play any part in Liverpool's upcoming matches against West Ham United and Middlesbrough.

Klopp revealed that the 27-year-old has now returned to training, but refused to put a timescale on the injury-prone striker's recovery.

"I have no idea when he will be back. Until now he didn't train. He wasn't 100% yesterday but he will be on the pitch today but that means starting the work. He won't be with the team," he told reporters.

"That is the life of football. You cannot force things like this. Sometimes you have to wait a little bit longer because you decide then what we had in the past (was better) and a few days' training would be nice before we start them again.

"I can't make pressure with making timelines. Hopefully he will be back as quick as possible but at this moment I have no idea."

Sturridge has made just four Premier League starts for Liverpool this season and has been linked with a January move away from the club having fallen behind Roberto Firmino in the pecking order at Anfield.
