Defender Matthew Upson attracts interest from Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion, according to a report.

Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing defender Matthew Upson, according to a report.

Upson was released by Stoke City earlier this month after only making two appearances for the Potters last season.

The 34-year-old's failure to break into the first team at the Britannia Stadium saw him join Brighton on loan during the January transfer window, where he went on to make 18 appearances.

According to the Daily Star, the Championship side could make a move to bring the former England international back to the Amex Stadium on a permanent basis.

Leeds United could also offer Upson a deal, as boss Brian McDermott looks to rebuild his squad at Elland Road.
