Preview: Leeds United vs. Hull City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Leeds United's meeting with Hull City in the Championship on Tuesday, including a prediction, team news and predicted lineups.

Leeds United will look to maintain pressure on leaders West Bromwich Albion with a win over Yorkshire rivals Hull City on Tuesday.

Marco Bielsa's side are expected to extend their winning run to seven games when they meet a Hull side currently 12th in the table.

Leeds can claim to have enjoyed the almost perfect weekend, winning their game while closest challengers Fulham were handed a shock defeat at home to Bristol City.

Having come so close to reaching the Premier League last season, missing out through the playoffs, it was thought that the bubble may have burst for the Yorkshire side.

However, that results have failed to dip and instead improved is a suggestion that Leeds have learned some lessons from what was their first meaningful chase for promotion in many years.

Under the watch of the tactically meticulous Bielsa, Leeds play with a mixture of intensity and precision that other teams can fail to match.

However, in what is always such a long and topsy turvy Championship season, Leeds will know that they must simply take things one game at a time - the next being a home fixture against a rival that they know well.

Now in their third season back in the Championship after a three-year stint in the Premier League, Hull are now struggling without the group of players that propelled them to the first division.

Having produced players like Harry Maguire, Andy Robertson and Samuel Clucas, all of whom have now left, Hull find themselves needing to discover a new core group of players capable of injecting some continuity into performances.

Despite results being below par this term, however, there is some potential in this team, with midfield pair Leonardo Lopes and Daniel Batty - both aged 21 - looking like players who could develop into real talents.

Appointed over the summer, manager Grant McCann will be given plenty of time to augment and develop the group of players at his disposal, but this is something that cannot happen overnight.

Hull will head into the game against Leeds knowing that their opponents represent the level of performance that they must match if they are to make a return to the top flight any time soon.

Team News

Leeds head into this game with a clean bill of health, adding to their feeling of positivity amid this impressive winning run.

As a result, Bielsa will hand another start to key striker Patrick Bamford, who has become a fixture under Bielsa at the expense of Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah.

Hull, on the other hand, will be without main forward Josh Magennis due to a hamstring problem, while Jon Toral and Kevin Stewart are both out until the new year.

Norbert Balogh, however, could be in line for a return to action after recovering from a calf injury sustained in October.

Leeds United possible starting lineup:
Casilla; Ayling, White, Berardi; Klich, Dallas, Alioski; Costa, Hernandez, Harrison; Bamford

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Long; Lichaj, Burke, De Wijs, Elder; Batty, Lopes, Bowen, Grosicki; Irvine, Eaves

We say: Leeds United 3-0 Hull City

Leeds are simply flying at this moment in time, while Hull's performances seem to oscillate between extremes on a weekly basis, meaning that the home side are incredibly likely to dominate the game and create a number of chances in front of their own supporters.
