Darko Milanic backs Leeds United to improve

Leeds United head coach Darko Milanic believes that the experience of defeat to Brentford will help him as he settles into his new role.

Leeds United head coach Darko Milanic has claimed that the experience of defeat to Brentford will help him get to grips with his new role.

The Championship side went down 2-0 at Griffin Park on Saturday in the Serbian's first match in charge, which ended the club's four-game unbeaten run.

Milanic, who agreed a two-year contract at Elland Road last week, has said that the experience of watching his squad play will lead to a noticeable improvement in performances.

"We have to get better," Milanic told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "This game, it was not the limit of the squad. We have to do better. The players have to do better in the next game.

"This is a real experience for me. I saw my players, I saw how they move and how they think, the faces that are on the bench. This is very important to me.

"I have to learn better every team, every player. I need time."

Leeds host Reading on Wednesday.
