Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink plays down Leeds United speculation

Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink insists that he is "committed" to the club despite speculation linking him with former side Leeds United.

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has distanced himself from reports linking him with the Leeds United job at the end of the season.

Hasselbaink's agent confirmed earlier this week that there has been interest from the Championship outfit, with Neil Redfearn's position at Elland Road looking increasingly uncertain.

Former Leeds striker Hasselbaink, who has guided Burton to promotion from League Two already this season, refused to completely rule out a return to his old stomping ground, but insisted that he is "committed" to his current club and would make any decision with his head rather than his heart.

"It's football, isn't it? I can't do anything about speculation. One thing I can say is I'm committed to Burton and I will do everything in my power, as long as I'm here, to be as successful as possible," the Dutchman told the Burton Mail.

"Leeds is a very beautiful club that I played for for two years. I've got lots of friends there. But it's difficult for me to talk about it because they have got a good manager who has done really well. I've got a job here that I really like, so for me it's not nice to talk about these kind of things.

"I'll make decisions for myself with my head and not my heart. It's difficult but you have to make decisions with your head. I've got two more years on my contract at Burton and it's my job."

Hasselbaink scored 42 goals in 87 games during a two-year stint at Elland Road.
