The 27-year-old was released by Hearts at the end of last season following the club's relegation from the Scottish Premiership.
Hamill began his career with Kilmarnock in 2007 before leaving for Tynecastle Stadium four years later.
The Scot made over 100 appearances for Killie during his initial spell at Rugby Park.
