Marco Materazzi reveals desire to coach in Bundesliga

Marco Materazzi admits that he would prefer to coach in the Bundesliga ahead of the "corrupt" Serie A.

Former Italy defender Marco Materazzi has revealed that he would prefer to coach in the Bundesliga rather than Serie A if he does manage to secure a job in Europe.

Materazzi, who is currently player-coach at Indian Super League side Chennaiyin, believes that the corruption scandals which have dominated headlines in Italy over the years have allowed the Bundesliga to become an elite European league alongside the Premier League and La Liga.

"Of course, yes, I want to coach in the Bundesliga," the 41-year-old told Sport Bild. "Italian football is corrupt. Other than the Juventus Stadium, the arenas are old and empty and there is violence, but it's different in Germany. There are stadium bans for troublemakers, which is not the case in Italy.

"The Bundesliga is next to La Liga and the Premier League among the top three leagues in Europe. In Germany they've been doing great things and planning since the 2006 World Cup.

"It is evidenced in Pep Guardiola going to Bayern Munich and Germany winning the World Cup in Brazil."

Materazzi guided Chennaiyin to the semi-final stage of the Indian Super League before being eliminated by Kerala Blasters.
