Jay Tabb: 'Playing at Old Trafford is weird'

Ipswich Town midfielder Jay Tabb feels that it is "weird" to play at Old Trafford as his side prepared to face Manchester United in the League Cup.

Ipswich Town midfielder Jay Tabb has revealed that it is 'weird' to play at Old Trafford ahead of his side's trip to face Manchester United in the League Cup tomorrow.

The 31-year-old played in the stadium when Coventry City beat the Premier League side 2-0 in the same competition in 2007, and Tabb feels that his teammates need to go out and enjoy the occasion.

The Republic of Ireland international told the Sudbury Mercury: "It's weird [playing at Old Trafford].

"When you turn up and see how big it is, the Theatre of Dreams and all that, when you grow up and watch Match of the Day, Man United were the biggest team.

"Thousands of kids grow up wanting to be footballers, only a handful make it and only a handful of them get to play at places like Old Trafford.

"We need to relish it, enjoy it and just try and make sure that the first thing you do is a good thing because that settles you down."

Tabb made 30 appearances for the Tractor Boys last season but has been restricted to just two League Cup appearances this year.
