Xherdan Shaqiri turned home a rebound on four minutes after Craig Gordon spilled Mauro Icardi's shot, before Palacio stroked home a second nine minutes later.

Ronny Deila's side slowly but surely grew into the encounter after the dreadful start, and two quickfire goals swiftly sent the home fans into raptures.

First, Stuart Armstrong converted Adam Matthews's clever cut-back on 24 minutes, before Armstrong completed a remarkable turnaround moments later by tapping home from close range.

Deila's troops looked to have done enough to earn a half-time draw, but Palacio popped up in the final stages of the half to fire the Nerazzurri ahead once more.
