Steve Bruce: 'Andrea Dossena tackle worth three red cards'

Steve Bruce says Andrea Dossena could have been given three red cards.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has claimed that Sunderland's Andrea Dossena could have been given three red cards for his tackle on David Meyler.

The Italian left-back was sent off just before half time, minutes after Lee Cattermole had also been shown red.

However, Bruce feels that Dossena's tackle was worthy of further punishment.

"I don't know if you can get three red cards but he deserved it," Bruce told Sky Sports News.

"They are the ones that hurt professional footballers. Over the top - a stamp on his ankle. He is lucky, Meyler, that he has got away with it.

"It could have been an awful situation and it was one of those awful challenges that no one wants to see."

Hull's 1-0 win means they are 10th in the table.
