Andre Marriner to referee FA Cup semi-final after red card blunder

Referee Andre Marriner will officiate the FA Cup semi-final between Hull City and Sheffield United at Wembley following his red card blunder.

The Football Association have announced that Andre Marriner has been appointed referee for the FA Cup semi-final between Hull City and Sheffield United at Wembley on April 13.

The 43-year-old came under fire when he sent off Kieran Gibbs by mistake following a handball offence from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during Arsenal's 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on March 22.

Despite his blunder, Marriner will take charge of the crucial clash, while Michael Oliver will officiate the other semi-final between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal on April 12.

The final will be played at Wembley on May 17.
