Chris Powell "100% recharged" ahead of new Championship season

Chris Powell says that he "can't wait to get back" in the dugout, as Huddersfield Town's players prepare to return for pre-season training over the coming weeks.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has admitted that he is already "really looking forward" to the new Championship campaign.

The Terriers report back for pre-season training on July 1, aiming to improve on their 16th-place finish from last time out.

Powell has recently returned from a break away, claiming that he is fully recharged and eyeing up the start of the 2015-16 season

"We've had a break away but we can't wait to get back, because you do miss it," he is quoted as saying by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "I've been watching all sorts of football over the last few weeks, like the Copa America and the Women's World Cup, and now the Under-21s European Championships have started – so you are never far away from the game.

"There is nothing like getting your own players back for pre-season, though, and working towards that first game of the Championship. Being right for August 8 is all we are thinking about from now until then.

"I know one or two of the lads have already been back in and done a little bit, but they have all had programmes to work to since last season and I'm sure it will stand them in good stead looking ahead. I'm 100% recharged and really looking forward to seeing everyone again."

Huddersfield get their league campaign underway with a trip to face Hull City on the opening weekend.
