Hearts' derby win over Hibernian was their only victory from their last six league matches.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is preparing to see the best of Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

The Light Blues continue their tussle with Celtic for the title and go into the game on the back of four successive Ladbrokes Premiership wins, three of which helped Gerrard win the league sponsors' manager of the month award for September.

By contrast, the Gorgie side have won only one of their last six league games, a 2-1 derby win over Hibernian at Easter Road.

However, the former Liverpool and England captain, is anticipating an exacting test in Gorgie.

"It is always tough," said the Ibrox manager, who could have Ryan Kent and Jon Flanagan available again after injury.

"I believe Hearts are in a false position, if you look at the personnel they have got, you roll the clock back 12 months ago they were top of the league, eight points ahead of us.

"So they certainly have the talent and the players and the management staff to move up the league.

"I think at times they haven't got the results their performances deserved but it will be a real tough test for us.

"We have to go there and find the level of performance we have done on previous occasions where we managed to get the win.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admits Hearts fans always create an intimidating atmosphere at Tynecastle.

"Tynecastle is an intimidating place to go. The fans always get behind the team, they are really close to the pitch.

"It is not a place you can go and underperform individually or collectively or you will be found out.

"Every time I watch Hearts I don't think you can fault them in terms of commitment and desire.

"They have turned the corner with that derby win which has given them big confidence and Rangers coming is always a scalp.

"I am sure they are looking forward to the fixture like ourselves and it has all the makings of a fantastic game."
