Youssef El Arabi double gives relegation-threatened Granada fighting chance

Youssef El Arabi scores twice as relegation-threatened Granada beat Getafe 2-1 for their first away win since September.

Granada picked up their first away victory since September by beating Getafe 2-1 to move within three points of safety in La Liga.

The visitors, whose winless streak away from home stood at 15 prior to kickoff, made inroads towards ending their hoodoo on the road after 14 minutes.

Edinaldo Naldo's inexplicable handball invited Youssef El Arabi to fire Granada ahead, and the Frenchman made no mistake with a fine penalty.

Pedro Leon missed a glorious chance to restore parity on 34 minutes, before atoning for the gaffe in superb fashion on the stroke of half time.

Leon, who had scored just once all season prior to tonight, curled a fine effort into the bottom corner from outside the box to peg back Granada just before the break.

Getafe threatened regularly in the early stages of the second period, but it was Granada who struck first as El Arabi leapt highest to plant Piti's cross into the top corner on the hour mark.

They would have been pegged back in the dying stages if not for Roberto Fernandez, who pulled off a fine save to keep out Emiliano Buendia as Granada held on to breathe new life into their survival bid.
