Amine Linganzi has claimed that the atmosphere created by Gillingham's supporters was a key factor in his move to the club.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined the League One side last month, played for Accrington Stanley against the Gills at Priestfield last season.
"When I came in the stadium and heard 10,000 people shouting I was really impressed," he told BBC Radio Kent.
"I had a good feeling and that was important for me to come here. I have spoken to a lot of people who have told me I have made a good choice.
"I like [playing in] England and, for me, the atmosphere and the fans are different."
Gillingham begin the new season at home to Colchester United on August 3.
